University of Oslo is pleased to offer ISS scholarships to international students of high academic ability for 2016 entry. Scholarships are awarded to undertake undergraduate and masters degree programme at the university.

University aims to assist international students who require financial assistance with scholarships, specifically for overseas students.

Applicants who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the internationally recognised tests (IELTS, TOEFL and Pearson ).

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursing undergraduate and master degree programme at the University of Oslo.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all the subjects offered by the University of Oslo.

Scholarship Award:
-Full scholarships: Approximately 50 full scholarships will be granted, and competition is high. Since there are so few full scholarships, applicants increase their chances if they apply for a partial scholarship and can pay a portion of the fees theirself or find other sources of funding. Full scholarships may include:
-Basic fees (on-campus)
-Additional fees (if applicable)
-Pocket money allowance (made available to applicants upon arrival; excludes recipients from USA and Canada)
-Plane ticket to and from Norway (excludes recipients from USA and Canada)
–Partial scholarships: The majority of scholarships awarded will be partial. Partial scholarships cover only:
-For recipients from USA and Canada: all or part of the Basic fee (on-campus students only)
-For all other recipients: all or part of the Basic fee and Additional fees (both on- and off-campus students)
Applicants can also indicate that they would like to have a portion of the basic fees covered instead of the full sum, if they can pay themselves or are receiving funding from an external source (employer, school, organization, company, etc).

Scholarship can be taken at: Norway

Eligibility: Please note the following:
-Citizens from countries in Asia, Oceania, Africa or South America may apply for full or partial scholarships for Master’s courses. Applicants must demonstrate that their academic and professional background are the same as the course they are applying for. For example, a person with an engineering degree will not be considered for a course in human rights or peace studies. Applicants from South America who are enrolled at one of UiO’s partner institutions may also apply for both full and partial scholarships for Bachelor’s courses.
-Applicants for full or partial scholarships must be citizens of a state in the Caucasus region (Azerbaijan, Armenia or Georgia) or citizens of the former Yugoslavia (Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro). Citizens of EU/EEA member states Slovenia and Croatia may apply for partial scholarships only. Exception: Rotary Young Friends Scholarship applicants. Applicants may apply for one Master’s course or up to three Bachelor’s courses.
– Applicants from the former Soviet Union, whose country is not a current EU member, may apply for both full and partial scholarships for both Master’s and Bachelor’s courses. Former Soviet Union states include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
-Applicants from EU and EEA countries may apply for a limited number of partial scholarships, for both Master’s and Bachelor’s courses.
– A limited number of scholarships, which come mostly from donations and private scholarship funds, are available to citizens of USA and Canada who apply for Master’s and Bachelor’s courses. Only on-campus applicants can apply for scholarships.
-Applicants who study Scandinavian studies at their home university may apply for a partial scholarship for a relevant course at the ISS. Applicants who have a strong reason to study in Norway may also apply for a scholarship (e.g. researchers/students who in their area focus on Scandinavian area studies, but are not themselves Scandinavianists).

Nationality: Citizens of Asia, Oceania, Africa, Central America and South America, Caucasus and Balkans, Former Soviet Union states, EU and EEA countries, USA and Canada can apply for these ISS scholarships.

Entrance Requirement: The ISS offers scholarships to applicants from certain countries. Competition for these scholarships is high and funds are limited, so the majority of scholarships awarded are partial scholarships.
