LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.
Research into the structure and properties of intermetallic compounds. This project aims at furthering our research into weakly ordered intermetallic systems, particularly such that are promising from a thermoelectric perspective.
As a Doctoral student you will mainly be working with your research project, but you can also be given more general tasks within the department i.e. teaching, research and administrative work, in accordance with the regulations. Rules for employment as a Doctoral student is stated in “The Higher Education Ordnance (SFS 1998:80), Chapter 5”.
The general eligibility requirement for doctoral studies is a university degree of at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least 60 credits at an advanced level. Furthermore you need a valid university degree at advanced level (MSc) within a relevant study program.
Basis of Assessment
Employment as a doctoral student can only be granted if you have been accepted to the PhD study program. The selection to this program is based on an assessment of your ability to perform well in and benefit from the program. This is also one of the basic criteria for employment.The assessment considers the following aspects in particular:
1. Documented knowledge and skills relevant to the research project and study results in particularly relevant courses.
2. Ability to work independently and to formulate and solve scientific problems. Such abilities can be demonstrated, for example, in a Master Thesis or in a discussion of scientific problems during a possible interview.
3. Skills in written and oral communication.
4. Other experience relevant to postgraduate studies, such as professional experience.
To be eligeble for the position the applicant should hold a masters degree in chemistry with a specialization in inorganic chemistry, or materials chemistry or having a background giving the equivalent proficiencies. Documented experience from work in structural chemistry is a requirement. Ability to communicate in written and spoken English is a requirement. The successful candidate is expected to work quite independently and to be able to take independent initiatives within the project. We are looking for a person who is curious, achievment-oriented, structured and diligent, who is analytical and has a good self-awareness.
