Crawford Fund invites nominations for training fellowship in agriculture, fisheries or forestry from scientists from a selected group of developing countries. The successful recipient shall spend up to three months at an Australian institution receiving further training in an aspect of agricultural research or resource development.  The training shall have relevance to the needs of the recipient’s home country and the benefits that may accrue from the award of the Fellowship. Nominations for the award should be made by at least two persons with experience in agriculture and who have a good knowledge of the nominee’s background. The closing date for nominations is 30 April, 2015.

Study Subject(s): Training will emphasize the application of knowledge to increase agricultural production in the Fellow’s home country.

Eligibility: The Fellowship is open to citizens of selected developing countries. In 2015 the countries selected are set out in the Schedule below. The nominated countries may change with time. Nominees will be actively engaged in the practice of some aspect of agricultural research or extension and may be undertaking formal postgraduate study. The successful recipient will be below the age of 35 years on 1 January in the year of the Fellowship Award.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens of following countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Fiji, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati, Vanuatu and Vietnam can apply for this training fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The Crawford Fund Fellowship was established in 2002 with the generous support of Dr Brian Booth AM FTSE. The aim of the Fellowship is to provide further training of a scientist in agriculture, fisheries or forestry from a selected group of developing countries, whose work has shown significant potential. The training will take place at an Australian agricultural institution and will emphasise the application of knowledge to increased agricultural production in the Fellow’s home country.

Duration of award(s): Fellowship is offered for up to three months.

What does it cover? The recipient shall be entitled to a return economy airfare to and from Australia, graduate student standard accommodation and subsistence during the tenure of the Fellowship and comprehensive medical insurance for the period of the Fellowship.

Selection Criteria: In determining the successful nominee, the selection committee shall take into account the candidate’s professional history and experience, and the impact of his/her contributions in the application of research and development in agriculture in a developing country or countries. This impact should be identified where possible in terms of benefits to agricultural production. Preference shall be given to applicants who have not previously accepted a similar award.

Notification: The successful nominee shall be notified by letter signed by the Chief Executive of The Crawford Fund.

How to Apply:
-Nominations for the award should be made by at least two persons with experience in agriculture and who have a good knowledge of the nominee’s background. The nominations must include the nominee’s full name and title, communication details, education qualifications, and professional experience. Any special aspects to the advantage of the candidate should be included. The nominators should provide evidence indicating the nominee’s fluency in English.
-The first proposer must be an Australian. The second proposer should be the Officerin-Charge of the nominee’s Institute, Department, etc. Nominations must be made on the application form obtainable from the Crawford Fund by post or via emailing office at Crawford-at-crawfordfund.org.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The closing date for nominations is 30 April, 2015.
